A process that forces the owner/lienholder to pay for services rendered, or lose ownership rights. The vehicle then goes to the highest bidder at public sale, although, most often, nobody shows up to bid, allowing the shop to be the new owner. State law does not allow storage to exceed $1500. This process usually takes about 5 weeks but can take longer if titled out of state.

For impounded vehicles with a declared value of $1000 or less (End of Life Vehicles) Junking Liens, although this isn’t necessarily a lien… title search / national database search, and certified letters notifying the owner/lienholder that the vehicle may be disposed of if not claimed within 30 days.
