Most liens take only about 5 weeks to complete. However, some vehicles that are titled in other states may take much longer based on the time to receive title information from states other than Indiana.
The very nature of a mechanic’s lien is to force an owner or lienholder to either pay and pick up the vehicle, or to surrender title. Storage fees max out at $1500 for both impound liens and traditional mechanic liens.
Most repair shops charge between $5 – $20 per day and often give a grace period of 3 to 30 days depending on the size of the shop and space available to store vehicles. Most towing companies charge between $20 – $30 per day and often charge based on calendar days.
If a vehicle has a lien from the State of Indiana, the state has a right to pay and pick up the vehicle, the same as any other vehicle.
